Young man dies after fall from Scarborough bridge in what police say was ‘unfortunate accident’

Police say a young man has died after a fall from a bridge over Highland Creek in Scarborough late Saturday night.

Officers and paramedics arrived at the scene just after 11:30 p.m. to find an approximately 20-year-old man unconscious and not breathing. A friend was there with him. The victim was not transported to hospital, police said.

Toronto Police spokesperson Katrina Arrogante said officers were still investigating, but that there was no indication of foul play or intoxication.

“It looks like it’s just an unfortunate accident that had occurred,” she said.

The area was closed off after the incident but has reopened.
