EDMONTON—Police are investigating the explosion of an improvised explosive device at a bank early Wednesday morning in the south-west neighbourhood of Chapelle Gardens.
Responding to a call for assistance from security guards, police arrived at the bank located near 27 Ave. and 141 Street around 1:40 a.m. No one was injured, but the guards who had arrived to perform their normal duties were transported to hospital as a precautionary measure.
The device detonated in a vestibule at the bank. Guards heard a loud bang and called police.
In a news release about the incident, police say no money was taken and robbery detectives continue to investigate.
