Peel police have identified a 77-year-old woman who was struck by a pickup truck at a busy Mississauga intersection Wednesday morning but was not carrying identification. She has been reunited with her family.
The victim, identified as Linda Landsberg, 77, remains in serious condition in a Toronto trauma centre, where she was taken after the 11:20 a.m. collision at the intersection of Glen Erin and Folkway Drs. She suffered serious head injuries, according to police.
She had no identification on her, only a set of car keys, so police had been unable to identify her to contact her family.
Officers on Wednesday night took the unusual step of releasing photographs of her clothing in the hopes of identifying her.
Peel paramedics rushed the victim to a Toronto trauma centre after she was hit by the pickup truck.
The truck driver remained at the scene and is co-operating with investigators, according to police. No charges have been laid.
Ten pedestrians have been killed on Mississauga and Brampton streets so far in 2018, Peel police statistics show.
Police are looking for witnesses to the collision. Witnesses can call investigators at 905-453-2121, ext. 3710.
