Toronto police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a man wanted in a sexual assault investigation.
Officers responded to a call on April 20 at 3:15 a.m. in the King St. W. and Shaw St. area, according to a press release.
Police say a 34-year-old woman ordered a car online and was approached by a man posing as her Uber driver. When she got into the dark, four-door sedan, she was sexually assaulted, police said.
They describe the suspect as between the ages of 30 and 35, with a dark brown complexion, a young-looking face, stocky build and wearing a red shirt.
“Police would like to remind the public that when ordering transportation via a rideshare app, make sure to verify the make, model, and licence plate of the vehicle, before you enter it,” the release said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
