Police across the GTA are investigating three separate homicide cases following a violent overnight — a stabbing in Brampton, a shooting in Oshawa and another shooting in Markham.
- In Brampton, a man in his 60s died while his son was also stabbed, police say.
Peel police were called to a residential neighbourhood near Castlemore Dr. and Paddington Rd. just before 2:30 a.m. Friday and found two men with stab wounds.
One died at the scene, while the other was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries, Const. Danny Marttini told reporters at the scene.
Marttini said multiple suspects were involved in the altercation with the victims, but no suspect descriptions are available at this time. Police are asking residents of the neighbourhood who may have seen something for help.
“We are canvassing the neighbourhood and going door-to-door,” Marttini said.
- In Oshawa, police were called to a housing complex near Ritson and Taunton Rds. just before midnight Thursday for reports of multiple gunshots, and found an 18-year-old man dead at the scene.
Durham police are looking for suspects.
- In Markham, York Region police say a man died and a woman was sent to hospital following a shooting just after 11 p.m. Thursday at a strip mall near Laidlaw Blvd. and Highway 7.
