Amber Alert issued for 5 children last seen near St. Catharines


Niagara Regional Police have issued an Amber Alert for five children last seen in a town near St. Catharines.

Police say the children are believed to have been taken from their home in Jordan, Ont. sometime between Sept. 19 and Sept. 25 by their father, Ian MacDermid, 49.

MacDermid is described as a white male, 6’, between 265 and 280 lbs., with blond hair, blue eyes and facial hair. He may be driving a gold or beige pickup truck.

The children are described as:

  • Evalyn MacDermid, female, age 5, 3’8”, long black hair, medium build, Asian
  • Mattias MacDermid, male, age 10 years, 4’8”, light brown caramel hair, small/medium build, Asian
  • Sovereign MacDermid, female, age 11, 5’2”, heavyset, long black hair, Asian
  • Eska MacDermid, female, age 13, 5’1”, medium build, long brown hair, Asian
  • Magnus MacDermid, male, age 14, 5’6”, black spiky hair, medium build, glasses, Asian

Police say the children are the subject of a temporary custody order that their father is allegedly contravening.

They are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of MacDermid or the children to call their local police.

Niagara Regional Police say five children are believed to have been abducted by their father, Ian MacDermid, 49, from a home in Jordan, Ont. The children are (clockwise from top left) Magnus, 14; Eska, 13; Evalyn, 5; Mattias, 10; and Sovereign, 11.
