Pedestrian hit with no vital signs after rush hour hit-and-run in North York

A female pedestrian has no vital signs after she was hit by a driver in a hit-and-run in North York during rush hour Thursday morning, police say.

The woman was hit by a driver of a black SUV near Islington Avenue and Aviemore Drive, just north of Finch Avenue West, shortly before 6:30 a.m., police said.

The driver then fled after striking the woman, police said.

The woman has not been taken to hospital and remains in the area with first responders, police said.

Islington Avenue has been closed in both directions.

Police say the SUV has front-end damage and are seeking any additional witnesses.
