Police allege burglary suspects found on top of Chico Marketplace

CHICO — Chico Police Department says it has arrested three suspects after finding them on the roof of the Chico Marketplace.

The arrests took place Friday at roughly 5 a.m. according to Chico Police. Responding to a commercial burglary alarm at JCPenney, officers arrived and allegedly discovered Wekin Tankul, 20, and Antonio Garza, 19, along with a juvenile suspect on top of the building attempting to break-in. All three suspects were arrested for attempted burglary.

Later that same day at 9 a.m., officers were dispatched to TLC Affordable Fashion inside the Chico Marketplace for a commercial burglary. An investigation took place and officers allege that the same three suspects had entered TLC Affordable Fashion.

Tankul and Garza were booked into custody at the Butte County Jail for attempted burglary and burglary. The juvenile was released with a citation to his guardian.
